Have a Slam Dunk Friday with Hoopcoming

Are you looking for something to do on Friday the 13th of 2015? In an effort to show support for the varsity basketball team, the AHS Booster Club is hosting a casual dance/concert called Hoopcoming.

This event was created to support the Warhawk basketball team much like homecoming is to support the football team.

Hoopcoming will take place from 9:00-11:00pm Friday, February 13, in the North Campus West gym. Prior to the concert, the Warhawks basketball team will be play the Mosque Warriors in a conference championship at 7:00pm, in Arrowhead East Gym.

Tickets for the concert are currently available at both North and South campus lunch. Tickets will also be sold Monday February 9th until Friday during lunch hours. Tickets at school are $10, and $12 on concert night. Bvillain, the concert DJ will be at ticket sales Thursday at South lunch, and Friday at North lunch.

The goal is to put on a really epic concert for arrowhead students, and to have the dance raise money so booster club can continue supporting Arrowhead,” says Mrs. Richter, Booster Club member and project leader.

Through a personal connection, the Booster Club booked a Hollywood based DJ/producer for the event, Brandon Holley, or “Bvillain,” which is his stage name.

In past years, the AHS Booster Club has donated trophy cabinets, and the water bottle dispensing water fountains throughout Arrowhead, says Richter.

The Booster Club hopes this event will become a tradition at AHS, according to Lori Barbee, a project meeting attendee.

Booster Club is funding the event with ticket sales and concessions.

“We have a rental equipment company coming in setting up a killer sound system and lighting,” says Zanatti.

“Unlike Homecoming and Prom, Hoopcoming is meant to be a fun, casual dance.  There is no need for fancy suites or dresses, dinners or even dates.  Hoopcoming offers AHS students a night to get together with friends, during the middle of winter and have a good time,” says Richter.

DJ Brandon Holley is Zanatti’s nephew, and is donating his time at the concert.

Zanatti says her nephew has had slots on MTV, as well as movie roles.

“His music career took off, and he became connected with LMFAO after they broke up. Ski Blu, a member of LMFAO, went under the name Big Bad University after the bands break up. Bvillain then DJ’d and toured with Guy Blue all over North and South America,” says Zanatti.

Zanatti says Bvillain is currently connected with Shwayze (a Hip Hop/Rap artist), and performed with Shwayze at The Rave in Milwaukee last November.

“He is very excited to come and put on a show at his cousin Johnny Zanatti’s high school,” says Zanatti.
