Arrowhead High School students give back
Arrowhead students have the opportunity to give back by participating in the annual food drive from November 3rd through November 14th. Students can also give back through the annual Blood Drive which this year is on Friday, December 12th, and through Santa’s Workshop on Saturday, December 6th.
Santa’s Workshop is held on December 6th from 8:30 A.M.- 11:30 A.M. There will be free babysitting sponsored by the Arrowhead Students so parents can do their Christmas shopping.
The Annual Food Drive benefits Hartland and North Lake Food Pantries in Waukesha County. Students are asked to bring their donations to their third hour classes where the items will be collected.
The Blood Drive will be held on Friday, December 12th from 8:30 A.M.- 1:30 P.M. in the west gym at North Campus.
Students are asked to make appointments for the blood drive at their fifth or sixth hour lunch or online; community members are also welcome.
Arrowhead High School student, Morgan Merbeth, says she gives to the food pantry every year.
“It’s a good way to clean out our cabinets at home and it also has a benefit to people who need food. Our family really enjoys giving back,” says Merbeth.
Merbeth says her and her family plan on giving blood at the Blood Drive this year.
Colleen Baber, senior at Arrowhead High School, says this year she is donating blood with her mom and giving to the food drive.
“Every year my family and I donate to the food drive before Christmas and it’s always so refreshing and I feel really good after,” says Baber.
Ricki Galstad, a senior at Arrowhead High School, says she donated blood last year but didn’t have a good experience.
“I really like donating blood because it’s convenient with it being held at school but I didn’t feel well afterwards so this year I might not donate. But my sister is donating in place of me this year,” says Galstad.
Galstad says that her family donates to the food drive twice a year.
“The food drive is a great way to give back, this year my family has a lot of extra food in our cabinets and I know it will provide to other families in need,” says Galstad.
