Kona Ice takes over Arrowhead
On Wednesday, September 24th, the Kona Ice truck came into Arrowhead High School during 5th hour lunch until 10th hour to sell their shaved ice in the lunch room, outside of the school store.
According to www.kona-ice.com, their syrup is healthier than the average snow cone companies. Kona says their syrup has vitamins C and B and uses 100% juice. The syrup goes on after the ice is shaved. You can put as much syrup on the ice as you want.
The flavors of syrup offered are Tiger’s Blood, Lemon-Lime-A-Lisious, Blue Raspberry, Wild Watermelon, Groovy grape, Strawberry Fresh, Tropi- Kona, Very Cherry, Orange Sunshine and Pina Colada.
There are two sizes: a small which costs $3.00 and a large which cost $5.00.
Steve Melzer, the head of Arrowhead’s DECA club, hired the Kona Ice truck for their annual Hawksfest and decided to invite them to Arrowhead on Wednesdays.
Senior Blake Martz said, “This ice truck is awesome and the flavors are actually good, unlike fake or artificial stuff.”
Senior Jackson Yundt bought the shaved ice in a small size and put two flavors: Tropi-Kona and Blue Raspberry.
Yundt said, “The small might not look big but it does fill you up. It’s a pretty good size if you are just eating it yourself. I like the fact that you can pick your own flavors too and how much syrup to put on.”
