Best Romance Movie of All Time: The Notebook
The movie The Notebook, based off Nicholas Spark’s novel, premiered on June 25, 2004. In United States and Canada alone it grossed $13.5 million. Worldwide, The Notebook grossed over $115.6 million. To me, it is the best romance movie created.
The Notebook takes you back to the 1940s in Seabrook Island, South Carolina. It took place during the time of WWII. Noah Calhoun, played by Ryan Gosling, tries to get his wife Allie Hamilton, played by Rachel McAdams, back after she suffers from Alzheimer’s.
The actors for the role were perfect. They had very good chemistry on camera. Gosling portrayed a poor, fun-loving man, very well. McAdams did a great job acting stuck up, dramatic, and in love.
The roles of their characters were emotional. McAdams and Gosling were such good actors that they drew you in and made you feel you were a part of it.
Seabrook Island, South Carolina, was a great setting for The Notebook. Nicholas Sparks’ book settings are always in South Carolina. This is simply because he lives there and knows most about it.
The plot was unique and also effective. The movie was played out through flashbacks. Allie Hamilton, as a young adult, wrote in a notebook everyday about her life. These stories included the life of her and Noah Calhoun. As Allie suffered from Alzheimer’s, Noah would read to her from the notebook every day in hope she would remember who he is. As Noah read from the notebook, the movie goes back to Allie and Noah when they were 17 and in love.
This is the best romance movie ever because it portrays the meaning of true love. Allie and Noah were separated for seven years, but their love for each other never faded. This shows they shared true love for each other.
Out of all Nicholas’s Sparks novels, The Notebook was the best movie adaption. This movie pulled at your heart strings and is a definite tear-jerker.
