The second week in May at Arrowhead High School, and around the world, is Teacher Appreciation Week. Teacher Appreciation Week recognizes and celebrates teachers. One teacher in particular, Miss McGraw, is a teacher who is much appreciated at Arrowhead High School.
Miss McGraw works at Arrowhead High School as an Environmental Biology teacher. She started working as a student teacher at the beginning of the 2024 school year. When interviewed about what made her want to teach environmental biology, McGraw said, “Well I have so my undergraduate degree in horticulture and so when I switched from doing horticulture to becoming a teacher, biology and environmental science are the two that I feel like are my specialties, so that’s why I like environmental bio because that’s like my wheelhouse; that’s what I know the most.”
When asked about liking biology when she was younger, McGraw said, “Oh yeah, I always loved biology, and when I was growing up it was like you liked one or the three: chemistry, bio, and physics, I was always a bio person.”
McGraw is a very positive and hardworking teacher who is very passionate about what she does. Her favorite part of her job as a teacher is “getting to work with you guys, the students, that’s when you guys are getting things and understanding it just makes me so happy.”
When asked what made her want to be a teacher, McGraw said, “It’s kind of hard to describe, it’s kind of like a calling, you just kind of know, I think being able to help others and being able to understand how the world works.”
Miss. McGraw is a wonderful teacher who continues to teach her students the importance of environmental biology.
