For 2025 Teacher Appreciation Day, I interviewed Mrs. Moseler, Girls Varsity Volleyball Coach and art teacher at Arrowhead.
What is your favorite part of teaching?
“Watching students ‘get it’ and enjoy what they are learning by putting this into the projects they make,” Moseler said. “As well as building a relationship with students and then helping them achieve more than they thought they could.”
What class do you enjoy teaching the most?
“Oooo….tough question! Probably if I really had to choose, it would probably be AP Studio art because through all the frustration and reflection, students grow so much personally,” Moseler said. “Students just don’t get a chance to do this for such an extended period of time in any other class. They start the year so vulnerable and apprehensive and yet come out with such pride and growth it is truly awesome to see.”
What is your favorite medium or unit to teach?
“Oil pastels or acrylic paint. I also am starting to really love digital art!” Moseler said. “I actually really like them all, every medium provides something interesting.”
“She’s a really good art teacher,” Maddy Burton, Arrowhead Senior and AP Art student, said. “Her feedback is genuinely useful, and I love being in her class.”
“She was always super helpful and was eager to help students that weren’t even her own,” Abi Gaar, Arrowhead Senior and AP Art student, said.
I took AP Studio Art with Mrs. Moseler as a junior and senior and even though it could be overwhelming and frustrating sometimes, I always felt supported and encouraged. She made sure that everyone had the resources they needed to succeed and always offered helpful and constructive advice. Taking AP Studio Art has made me grow so much as an artist, and I owe it to Mrs. Moseler’s incredible encouragement and optimism in the past two years of the class.
