May 5th marked the start of Teacher Appreciation Week. Schools around the country take a week to celebrate their amazing teachers. Señor Tim Gliniecki teaches Spanish 2 and 3 at Arrowhead while also teaching Spanish to students at North Lake School. Also, he formally taught German at Arrowhead. To celebrate Arrowhead teachers, our newspaper staff will be interviewing teachers they feel have had a great impact on their lives.
I chose to interview and celebrate Señor Gliniecki, who has been my Spanish 3 teacher for my whole junior year. He has helped me grow greatly in Spanish and obtain a better understanding of what we learn. I also admire his ability to make class fun while also being educational.
All teachers have a drive that inspired them to go into teaching based on various experiences or circumstances. “The love of languages and the enjoyment of the worst part of working with young people is what inspired me to become a teacher,” Señor Gliniecki said.
“Interacting with kids and seeing them grow in their ability to speak a language is my favorite part about being a teacher,” Gliniecki said.
After teaching Spanish and German for multiple years, Gliniecki has a perspective not many teachers have. “Spanish and German are about equal in terms of teaching, each has its pros and cons, and difficulties,” Gliniecki said. “I don’t have a favorite one to teach.”
“The most rewarding thing I witnessed in my teaching career is seeing kids after they graduate from high school, and that they still remember my class and look back on it and enjoy it,” Gliniecki said.
On behalf of the Arrowhead staff, thank you to the amazing teachers at Arrowhead, especially Señor Gliniecki. Gracias.
