Director of Bands Jacob Polancich has dedicated over 15 years developing the Arrowhead Instrumental Music department. As Teacher Appreciation Week approaches, everyone ought to celebrate some of America’s most decorated members of the workforce.
Better known as “Mr. P” by his pupils, Polancich commented on what he likes most about being a teacher. “I’ve always been passionate about trying to ignite something inside of our students. Trying to be a spark that ignites the passion in our students for the stuff that we do – music”.
Throughout the years, Mr. P has developed Arrowhead’s instrumental music department into what it is today. He is currently the director of four different ensembles – Symphonic Band South, Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, and Jazz Ensemble. Mr. P also teaches the music foundations course.
I decided to select Mr. P as a teacher to recognize this week because of his dedication, curiosity, and his efforts to make the Arrowhead Instrumental Music department a place for everyone. He is kind, has a witty sense of humor, and has aided both me and many students at Arrowhead in achieving their musical dreams.
