Arrowhead’s Boys Track Team is a program with a rich history of excellence. The team has multiple state championships, winning four years in a row and going for the fifth consecutive state win this year.
Some notable athletes on the team include Logan Hicks, who achieved the state record in both the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 13.97 seconds and the 300-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 36.92 seconds. Additionally, the 800-meter relay team of Presley Bencz, Ryan Herman, Jackson Schulz, and Harper Hughes, set a state record with a time of 1:26:73 last year.
When asked about what the team needs to focus on in order to win another state title, Mr. Herriot, Head Boys Track Coach said: “We are a long way from talking about winning another championship. At the start of each season, we are in a constant assessment mode, focusing on our training and looking forward to our first competitions. These early meets help us evaluate our strengths and, equally important, see how we compare to the rest of the state. Our approach to training does not change in years when we believe we have a shot at a title versus years when we lack the firepower. As the season progresses, a possible path to a championship may emerge. When it does, we will focus our energy on preparing for those potential scenarios. However, regardless of the outcome, our ultimate goal is to ensure our athletes perform at their best at the state meet, so we will be ready no matter what happens.”
