On February 9, the awards ceremony for winners and honorable mentions in the 2024 Scholastic Art & Writing contest was held at the Milwaukee Art Museum in the Lubar Auditorium. As of February 1 and continuing through March 16, winning Wisconsin student art displays are available for viewing in the Schroeder Galleria in the museum.
“Many award winners have gone on to achieve distinction in the fine arts, applied arts, and design, and they often credit their success to the early recognition they received as participants in Scholastic,” the Milwaukee Art Museum website stated. “Harry Bertoia, Robert Indiana, Cy Twombly, Andy Warhol, and John Wilde are among the past awards recipients with pieces in the Museum’s collection.”
Several Arrowhead students were nominated for awards, including sophomore Maddie Seeger, senior Ellaina Ward, senior Rylie Gagnon, senior Katie Weitner, junior Leah Harju, and junior Lily Thompson.
Artworks that receive the Gold Key award are sent on to compete nationally. National results are released on March 26, 2025.
