From October 17 to October 26, Arrowhead Broadway Company put on Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. This show is not the classic Cinderella we grew up watching on TV. a twist. In this vision of the classic fairy tale, there are lively twists and turns, new characters, and obviously much more music.
The show made it clear from the start that there would be a difference in the story. There were both familiar and unexpected parts that made the story more interesting. One of the biggest changes was that more characters were added to Cinderella’s world, giving it new points of view. For example, the audience is introduced to Jean Michel, played by senior Brady Landis, a passionate revolutionary who was set on making a difference in the world.
“It was super fun to experiment with the comedy that came with playing the character of Jean Michel,” said Landis.
Each musical number had great choreography that showed off the cast’s skills and gave each scene more energy and feeling.
“I liked watching the show come together. My favorite part of the show was the scene “The Prince is Giving a ball,” Billy Bamba, Broadway Company member, said.
The costumes brought the story to life, and the beautiful set design changed for each scene to make Cinderella’s world come to life. The actors seemed to really feel what they were saying, and Cinderella’s kindness and strength made the story inspiring.
Arrowhead Broadway Company’s Cinderella was an enjoyable experience all around.
