Students Share No-School Plans on Friday and Monday

There is no school on Monday, January 16th, and Friday, January 20 for Arrowhead students.

Tuesday the 17th, Wednesday the 18th, and Thursday the 19th are the days that students are taking their final exams for their semester one classes.

Students will take three class finals each day and will be given 90 minutes to complete each final exam, with 20-minute passing periods in between exams. The first hour is from 7:30 to 9:00; the second hour is from 9:20 to 10:50; and the third hour is from 11:10 to 12:40.

Because Monday is the day before final exams, some students say they plan to use the day to study.

Evalisse Brimm, an Arrowhead sophomore, says on Monday, she will be doing “lots of studying” and on Friday she will be “hanging out with friends.”

Maura Phillips, an Arrowhead sophomore, says “Study and cry and sleep for Monday. Friday: sleep more.”

Elizabeth Jorgensen, an Arrowhead Language Arts teacher, says, “Monday acts as an in-service day for teachers, while Friday is a day to finalize grading, to finish putting in grades for the end of the semester.”

Teachers have a Professional Learning Day called “Viva Las Vegas” on Monday. They have breakfast and guest teachings from Eric Larson, Mona Zignego, and Jen Townsend.

Kourtney Calmes, an Arrowhead sophomore, says, “I’m definitely gonna hang out with my friends. I’m gonna be hanging out with Addy (Addy Whelan, fellow Arrowhead sophomore) for most of the time, and then we’re gonna go out shopping for the rest of the day.”

Aiden Costa, an Arrowhead sophomore, says he plans to “play Minecraft” during the two days off.

George Fleurant, an Arrowhead freshman, says he will “probably sleep, and hopefully hang out with Julia (Mattson, an Arrowhead sophomore).”
