Challenges and changes to the AHS Literary Magazine

Joanne Brack and Rachel Gebhard are this year’s senior editors for the Arrowhead Literary Magazine.

This September, the Literary Mag opened for the 2020-2021 school year. The Literary Mag publishes students’ original work. The literary magazine comes out both in print and electronic versions.

Brack said, “The magazine contains all things such as poetry, essays, short stories and even drawings and photography.”

Students can find previous AHS Literary Magazines on the AHS website.

The deadline for submissions for this year’s magazine is by the start of spring break.

The final print copy of the magazine should be available by June. Electronic copies will also be available on the website by the end of the 2020-2021 school year.

Brack says there isn’t really a specific number of people that are allowed to send in their submissions for the literary mag and any number of people can be chosen for publication.

Brack said, “The literary magazine was created in order to showcase students’ writing and photo ability. In most cases students writing and photographs are only seen by teachers whom they submit their pieces to.”

Students can submit their work by emailing [email protected].

Brack said, “Without the help of English teachers, there would not be a lot of submissions into the magazine.”

Freshmen through seniors that would like their work to be in the literary magazine can send in their submissions.

Gebhard said, “By creating the literary magazine, students are able to show their work to anyone who reads or looks through the magazine.”
