This year’s Veterans Day fell on Wednesday, November 11th. Rho Kappa has taken the initiative to help support veterans in a different way this year, due to the current Covid-19 pandemic.
Rho Kappa is the social studies honor society run by two social studies staff members here at school, Nate Flesch and Beth Desroisers. Usually each year Rho Kappa runs a veterans day breakfast, where the school treats veterans to breakfast and they are honored for their service.
Since Covid-19 has altered the plans this year, Rho Kappa has decided to honor veterans in a different way. Students were given a printable sheet where they can honor a veteran by writing their names and putting it on their locker.
Lauren Webb, a junior at Arrowhead said, “I thought it was really nice how they turned a negative into a positive by taking advantage of the situation and still honoring veterans.”
Even virtual students that are members of Rho Kappa got involved. Virtual students of Rho Kappa emailed their filled in locker decal and someone put in on their locker.
