Girls and Boys Basketball Season Results
The Arrowhead girls basketball team reached state this year but lost in the first round of the state tournament to Appleton North 52-38.
Arrowhead was the 1 seed in there sectional and regional portion of the tournament. To start off the regional semifinal, they beat Sheboygan south 64-19. They then advanced to the Regional final and won 52-36 against the 9 seed, Green Bay Preble.
After the regional finals they moved on to the sectional semifinal against Waukesha South. Arrowhead took down Waukesha South in that game 47-31. Arrowhead then moved on to the Sectional championship versus the number 2 seed Bay Port and ended up winning the game 49-34.
Arrowhead then played Appleton North in Green Bay for the chance to go to the state championship, but they fell short and lost 52-38.
Appleton North went on to the State championship to play Mukwonago. Appleton North won the State championship with a score of 45-32.
The Arrowhead girls team finished at 26-3 overall and 15-1 in conference. According to max preps, they rank at 146th in the nation and 5th in the state.
The Arrowhead girls basketball page states, “The Arrowhead Girls Basketball Program views itself as an instrument of Arrowhead High School’s ‘One Team’ philosophy. Everything we do in our program will revolve around helping students feel that they are part of something bigger than self. Moreover, we strive to develop strong young women both physically and mentally. We will do this by teaching young people values and lifelong skill such as accountability, trust, community, acceptance of a role, persistence, leadership, confidence, persistence and performing under pressure.The goal is that all coaches, managers and players in our program will work together to create an experience that everyone will benefit from for the rest of their lives.”
The Arrowhead boys team however, did not make it to state. They fell in the sectional semifinals to Kettle Moraine 61-55.
To start the Regional semifinals, Arrowhead was a 2 seed in their section. They played the 15 seed Waukesha South and won 64-25. The second round they played Fond Du Lac who was a 10 seed and the Warhawks won by a score of 55-42.
Arrowhead then played in the sectional semi final against the 3 seed Kettle Moraine who Arrowhead beat twice in the regular season. But, in the playoffs, Arrowhead fell short 61-55 to end the season.
The WIAA boys season is not yet finished, however. The season will come to an end this weekend as the State tournament starts Friday the 16th. Oshkosh will play Hamilton for a trip to the State championship and will play the winner of Sun Prairie and Brookfield East at the Kohl Center in Madison.
Arrowhead finished 18-8 overall and 11-4 in conference. According to max preps, Arrowhead’s national rank was 1,884th and state rank was 43rd.
