Latest iPhone Breaks Record
Records are breaking on the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus sales. The iPhone 6s Plus retain the same price bands as its predecessor in Apple’s home market of the United States. The iPhone 6s price starts at $649 for the 16GB variant, $749 for 64GB, and $849 for the 128GB. Apple’s new flagship phones, won’t be subsidized by Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T. This means they’re not going help students pay for the phone.
According to Arrowhead senior Taylor Radtke, “the full price is about $749 and full life plan is like $20 per month, but that’s through Sprint.”
According to the Apple Website on Apple Press Info, “Sales for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apple’s history,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “Customers’ feedback is incredible and they are loving 3D Touch and Live Photos, and we can’t wait to bring iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to customers in even more countries on October 9.”
On September 28th, Apple announced it sold more than 13 million of the new 6s and 6s Plus–a new record, just three days after their launch. “I think that’s good for their business and I look forward to see how the next iPhone does and if it’ll sell more.” Says Arrowhead senior Chloe Peterson.
The new phones will be available in more than 40 additional countries beginning October 9th including Italy, Mexico, Russia, Spain, and Taiwan. They will be available in 130 countries by the end of the year.
The original iPhone introduced the world to Multi-Touch, changing the way people experience technology. Multi-Touch allows a touch screen, trackpad, etc., to register multiple points of contact made on the surface simultaneously. With 3D Touch on iPhone 6s, users can do things that were never possible before. The iPhone now senses how hard you press the display, letting you do all kinds of essential things more quickly and simply, says Apple. You can hold down a photo, and the picture gets bigger. The 3D Touch allows you to not have to click anything, just hold down.
The camera is more advanced than ever. The 12-megapixel iSight camera captures sharp, detailed photos, according to the Apple website. Apple says it’s the most popular camera in the world.
It takes 4k video, up to four times the resolution of 1080p HD video. iPhone 6s also takes selfies with the new 5-megapixel FaceTime HD camera. It introduces live photos, a new way to relive your memories. It captures the moments before and after your picture and sets it in motion with the press of a finger. Arrowhead senior Arden Casanova said “I’m excited for the rose pink colored phone.
The 6s is powered by the custom-designed 64-bit A9 chip. It delivers performance once found only in desktop computers. Apple website says you’ll experience up to 70 percent faster CPU performance, and up to 90 percent faster GPU performance for games and apps. CPU stands for central processing unit while GPU stands for graphics processor.
The phones innovation has been improved, says Apple. The enclosure is made from a new alloy of 7000 Series aluminum–the same grade used in the aerospace industry. The cover glass is the strongest, most durable glass used in any smartphone, according to Apple. A new rose gold finish joins space gray, silver, and gold.
6s features LTE Advanced with speeds up to twice as fast as the previous generation. It supports more LTE bands than other smartphone, according to Apple. When user is connected to Wi-Fi, the phone allows you to do things like browse the web and download apps at speeds up to twice as fast as it was before.
According to Apple website, IOS 9 is the most advanced, intelligent, and secure mobile operating system in the word. Powerful new built-in apps, advanced features in Siri, and enhancements throughout the system make it smart and more essential than ever according to Apple.
Not only did Apple release a new phone, new accessories are in. Designed for the phone are natural leather and vibrant silicone cases provide stylish protection. Also, new Lightning Docks in four color-matched metallic finishes allow for each charging.
The Lightning Docks charges and syncs any iPhone that features Lightning connector with the iPhone Lightning Dock. It also allows your phone to sit upright in the dock as it syncs or charges. Arrowhead senior Taylor Radtke pre-ordered the phone and got the rose gold.
Radtke said she got the new phone, “because my old phone was full so I thought it was time for a new one. And it’s new and has all cool new features.”
“I’m excited to receive my new iPhone in the mail,” Radtke says.
Arrowhead senior Rachel Lewis said, “Well it just came out so it’s pretty expensive right now. I think I’ll wait until all the fuss dies down and see how much it is then.”
