Arrowhead is filming a Lip Dub, which is a video-based tour of the school.  It combines lip synching and audio dubbing to make a music video. It is made by filming individuals or a group of people lip synching while listening to a song or any recorded audio then dubbing over it in post editing with the original audio of the song.

The following songs will be used in the Lip Dub: Happy by Pharrell, Good Time by Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen, and Best Day of My Life by American Authors. This will be used as a way to promote Arrowhead High School to show what the school has to offer according to the school principal, Gregg Wieczorek.

In order for this to work, the coach or leader in a club or sport will have a set location in which they will be for the video. Students involved in more than one extracurricular activity will need to choose one thing to be a part of in the video. Also, teachers who are in charge of more than one thing, will need to choose one. There are a few groups Nethery wants to be pre choreographed, but other clubs or even groups of students who want a spot on the main route can decide what they want to do, provided it isn’t inappropriate or violates any rules.

“I would never want to tell everyone exactly what to do because it should be spontaneous and personal to each group,” says Nethery.

Nethery says, “Setup might be 10 minutes or it might be 30. Everything will be mapped out, but there’s still no predicting some issues that might arise. If all goes well and we get it in one take, filming will take under 10 minutes.”

The method of the video will be one continuous shot the entire way. He says he hopes to finish in one take, but if something major goes wrong, then it will have to be reset started over.

“It’s risky and there’s a lot at stake, but if other schools can do it, so can we,” says Nethery.

The student senate speeches will also be held on May 28th. Fourth hour will be extended. The first 27 minutes will be used for instruction and the rest to watch the speeches via computer. After watching the speeches during fourth hour, the day will proceed hour by hour.
