Artists to Visit at Summerfest 2017

With summer approaching quickly, Arrowhead students begin thinking about summer festivities such as sunshine, no school, and of course, Summerfest.

Summerfest is the world’s largest music festival held in Milwaukee. Though Summerfest is always an immense attraction, this year is a little more special because it is the 50-year anniversary of Summerfest.

Summerfest of 2017 begins on June 28th and runs through July 9th. The only day that Summerfest is closed throughout that window is July 3.

Notable 2017 headliner artists are Luke Bryan, the Chainsmokers, Future, Big Sean, and Migos. These artists are all playing at the Marcus Amphitheater on different dates throughout Summerfest. Tickets for the amphitheater shows can be purchased at ticketmaster.com.

The free stages this year are amped with bigger artists and a more satisfied crowd of concert-going students.

On the Miller Oasis stage DJ Steve Aoiki will be performing on June 29th at 10 PM. Aoiki is most famous for his songs “Turbulance,” and his remix of Kid Cud’s “Pursuit of Happiness” featured the the teen movie Project X released in 2012.

Another DJ also on the Miller Oasis stage is Flume. Flume is a widespread successful DJ known by nearly every Arrowhead student.

Junior Jaxson Carr says, “I will most definitely be going to Flume. Everyone is so excited that he’s performing it’s super huge.”

Flume is best known for songs, “Insane,” “Never Be Like You” and his most recent album “Skin” featuring multiple hit songs. Flume will be performing on June 28 at 10 PM on the Oasis stage.

Up and coming artist Alessia Carey will also be taking the Miller Oasis stage on July 4 at 10 PM. Alessia is best known for her songs “Here” and “Stay.” Carey is co-signed with popular artist Drake who participated in her musical advocation.

Another rising artist, KYLE, is being showcased on the Miller stage on July 5th at

10 PM. KYLE’s most popular songs are “iSpy” and “King Wavy.” This rap artist was featured in the 2015 edition of The Rolling Stone’s “10 New Artists You Need to Know.”

Pop artist Bebe Rexha will be performing on July 1st at the US Cellular stage. Bebe is best known for “I Got You” and “I Can’t Stop Drinking About You.”

Summerfest has 11-day power passes available for sale here. The power pass allows you full access into the Summerfest grounds all 11 days of the festival. In celebration of the festival’s 50-year anniversary, the website is also selling a commemorative “50-year Book” containing photos of artists who have appeared at Summerfest for the past 50 years.

Buses are available to transport people from their local park and ride to the summerfest ground for a fee based upon where they depart from.
