According to Arrowhead’s Associate Principal, Becky Gordon, the 2017 Prom is on Saturday, April 22nd, at Country Springs Hotel.

Prom begins at 6:00 p.m. and goes until 11:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale online March 27th to March 31st for $70, but the price raises to $80 starting April 4th. Ticket sales end at noon on April 7th.

After a student buys their ticket, they must go to room 137 at North Campus to pick out their table and make their food selection. The food options are chicken cordon bleu, baked salmon, or vegetarian lasagna.

“I like the choices for this year’s food selection and I’ll probably get the chicken cordon bleu because I like it the most out of all the options. I wish they had more casual options though, because I prefer pizza or a salad versus this big meal,” says senior Nina Orlando.

The theme for 2017 Prom is Yule Ball. The Yule Ball is from the fifth Harry Potter movie, The Goblet of Fire. In the film, Yule Ball is a formal dance held on Christmas night at Hogwarts. Last year’s Arrowhead prom theme was Rustic Moonlight.

According to Orlando, Prom is traditionally a spring dance for juniors and seniors. However, if a junior or senior asks a student in grade below, those students are eligible to go.

“This years theme, Yule Ball, seems like it will be more fun than last year’s theme, which was Rustic Moonlight.” Orlando says.

According to the Arrowhead website, if a student wishes to ask a student from another high school, they must pick up a form. The form asks for the other high school’s principal’s permission to let the student attend Arrowhead’s Prom. These forms are used for Homecoming and Twirp as well. The forms are located at both South and North front offices.

According to Kaylee McGill a senior at Arrowhead, many students opt to take pictures before the dance at someone’s house or at a restaurant. This way when students get to the dance, they can just dance and enjoy themselves versus trying to take pictures during the dance. There is also an option to get your picture taken at the dance, which will be sent to your house at a later date.

“I love getting all dressed up with my friends before the dance. The pictures are one of my favorite parts of the whole night because it gives me something to look back at and remember what we did that night,” McGill says.

According to McGill, another fun and exciting component about prom is “seeing all the pictures in the yearbook that I didn’t see that night. Yearbooks don’t normally come out until the summer time, so it is fun to look through the pictures and remember all of the fun times.”

“I also love seeing people’s pictures on Instagram throughout the night, and seeing the different poses that people make—the pictures are all super cute,” McGill says.
